Strawberry for Charity

Knowing that many fruits are lost every year due to their non-conformity to the industry’s standards or due to supermarkets miscalculations causing major environmental impact, the team from Strawberry for Charity decided to contact farmers in Germany and the Netherlands to collect these rejected products. These strawberries will be transformed in jam directly in Germany with the support of members from the local Rotaract club and in the kitchen of Hotelschool The Hague potentially with PE students in catch up shifts. Once the jars donated from the Dosen Zentrale are collected from Germany, they will be used to pack the jam and thanks to the help of the team’s network, labels with professionally designed logo and the full list of sponsors as well as the purpose of the action will be applied as a seal. From this production, around 50% will be given to local foodbanks to help people in need, while the other 50% will be sold at a minimum rate of 3,80€ for 280 mL jars with the invitation to give according to the customer’s own valuation of the product and the supported cause. The benefits from this sale will be fully donated to the selected cause.
